Several valid factors are major contributors to the fishing success that has become common practice at
Birch Point Camp. The fact that Nungesser Lake is not accessible by road substantially reduces the number of boats on the lake. In addition, the absence of commercial fishing ensures a plentiful stock of
fish remains in the lake for recreational use and reproductive purposes. One must also take into account the accessibility of the fish. Because of the characteristics of the lake, there are ample
sheltered areas that make fishing a treat, not a treatment, even on windy days.
We can assure you that there are ample fish resources to challenge any fisherman irregardless of his or her degree of expertise. Twenty-nine-pound Northerns and 11 lb. Walleyes have ended up on guests' stringers.
Large Northern are usually taken during the first month of our season when they are in shallow water and
again in mid-August until camp closing when they appear to have ravenous appetites.
Walleyes, on the other hand, consistently feed throughout our four-month stay on the lake.
